As part of the ongoing drive to make Punjab a drug-free state, the Faridkot police have arrested Gulab Singh, the kingpin who ran the smuggling network. He further said that the arrest of Gulab Singh will help in breaking the entire smuggling network and prevent future smuggling activities.
The action comes a year after the state Special Operations Cell (SSOC) arrested four drug smugglers and recovered 77.8 kg of heroin (41.8 kg + 36 kg) and three pistols. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the arrested accused played an important role in the delivery of 36 kg of drugs and had links with Pakistani smugglers.
Action on illegal drug trade
The DGP said Gulab Singh’s arrest was the result of a thorough investigation and continuous monitoring of his past connections. He said additional financial investigations are underway to detect illegal financial transactions and confiscate assets acquired through illegal narcotics.

The SSP said the arrested accused had managed divers to recover consignments of heroin and arms and were in touch with Pakistan-based smugglers through various apps. He further stated that the accused Gulab Singh has an old criminal record and is facing several criminal cases in Faridkot and other districts of the state.
