Rahul Gandhi at Ramchet cobbler’s shop

Days have changed at the cobbler’s shop where Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi used to stay in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur. People are willing to pay the asking price for the chappals stitched by Rahul Gandhi, but a cobbler named Ramchet is not willing to sell them. He is receiving calls from people who want to buy chappals, some have indicated the price up to 1 lakh rupees and some are talking about giving a bag full of money. But, Ramchet is currently not ready to accept any offer.

After meeting Rahul Gandhi, the fortune of a cobbler named Ramchet changed. Ramchet owns a small shoemaking shop at Vidhayak Nagar intersection in Kurebhar. Rahul Gandhi stopped by the shop on July 26 and had a shoe stitched for him along with Ramchet. Apart from this, he had glued the sole on the shoe. After this he left after giving assurance of help. The next day, a delegation of Congress leaders from Lucknow reached Ramchet’s house and gave him a sewing machine to sew shoes and some financial help.

Machine sent, conversation on call

Ramchet told Dainik Bhaskar that the next day Rahul Gandhi also called him and asked about his health. After meeting Rahul, many officials are reaching his house and asking about him. Ramchet said about the shoe sewing machine that no other cobbler in the whole area had a machine as good as the one Rahul had provided for him. In return for this favor, he has also given two pairs of shoes to Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi knows number 9 shoes, that’s why Ramchet has sent one number 9 and one number 10 shoe for him.

The slippers cost nothing

Ramchet says that now people passing by his shop stop and ask about his health. He also said that now people are giving money to buy the chappals which were stitched by Rahul Gandhi. A man approached Ramchet and asked him to give him 10,000 rupees in exchange for a pair of slippers. On the phone, Ramchet is being asked to fill the bag and give money. However, he has rejected all the offers. Ramchet says this is a symbol of his meeting with Rahul Gandhi that he will cherish.
