Congress suspended Chitra Sarvara

Political parties are sweating heavily over the Haryana assembly elections. Meanwhile, many leaders were upset by not getting tickets. One of these disgruntled leaders is Chitra Sarwara of the Congress, who took a rebellious stance and joined the Independent Party. Now the party has suspended him for 6 years for indulging in anti-party activities.

Chitra Sarwara announced to contest as an independent candidate from Ambala Cantonment assembly seat. Congress has fielded Parvinder Pal Pari against six-time MLA and senior BJP leader Anil Vij from this seat. The Congress says that Sarwara has contested as an independent candidate against its candidate, which is a ‘violation’ of the party’s line and policy.

What did Congress say while suspending?

The Congress issued an official statement saying, ‘We have received several reports from Congress workers and Ambala Cantt assembly candidates regarding your involvement in activities against the interests of the party. Especially your participation as an independent candidate against a Congress candidate is a violation of party policy. Congress has reviewed the evidence of your actions, and we are compelled to act. Due to these anti-party activities we are suspending your membership in the Congress Party for six years.

In the last election, BJP won 40 seats.

Haryana has 90 assembly seats. Voting on these seats will be held on October 5. Along with Jammu and Kashmir, the results of the assembly elections will be announced on October 8. In the last assembly election 2019, BJP won 40 seats and Congress 30 seats. Recently, Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana Pankaj Aggarwal said that the Election Commission in collaboration with the office of the Chief Electoral Officer has implemented special measures to increase the voting percentage in the Haryana elections as compared to the previous elections. Voters are being encouraged to vote through various SVEEP activities including slogan writing, painting, street plays and poster making.
