The West Bengal government has constituted a SIT to probe the financial irregularities at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. It is being said that former principal Dr. Ever since Sandeep Ghosh assumed charge in the year 2021, many irregularities have come to light. This matter was mentioned in hushed tone by the hospital doctor and some people too.
Now the Mamata government has instructed to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT will probe allegations of financial irregularities at RG Kar Hospital from January 2021 till now.
The SIT will have freedom to access any documents of government departments and private agencies necessary to complete the investigation as soon as possible. Let it be known that the SIT is headed by Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy Inspector General of Police Dr. Pranav Kumar will do. Along with him, the team includes Murshidabad Range DIG Waqar Raza, CID DIG Soma Das Mitra and DC Central Kolkata Police Indira Mukherjee.
According to the information, the SIT will seek the services of other officers and personnel from the police directorate if required. The SIT has been instructed to submit its first report to the state government within a month.
Supreme Court hearing today
The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the alleged rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata and the hearing of the matter was uploaded on the website today August 20 Chief Justice D.Y. A bench headed by Chandrachud will hear the matter on Tuesday i.e. today. The hearing is likely to take place at 10.30 a.m. Meanwhile, the Delhi Medical Association filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Monday requesting to be made a party in the suo motu case.
