RG Kar Rape Case: CBI Starts Probe, Collects Evidence At Hospital For 6 Hours; The Puzzle Boils Down To These 6 Questions


Doctors also went on strike on Wednesday in protest against the caste and murder of a trainee doctor in West Bengal. Following a court order, the CBI team probing the Kolkata incident left RG Kar Hospital at around 10.45 pm on Wednesday night. After reaching Kolkata, the investigation team reached the hospital at 3.40 pm and left at 9.45 pm. The CBI team stayed at the hospital for about 6 hours. Meanwhile, the forensic team of the agency collected the evidence. CBI is interrogating accused Sanjay Roy in this case.

There are many questions before the CBI

CBI will face a big challenge in investigating many questions related to this case. In the Kolkata incident where a trainee doctor was raped, it must first be investigated as a gang rape. Also, was the accused alone at the time of the incident? A question also arises as to whether the evidence was destroyed after the incident. Another big question before the agency is why the murder was earlier declared a suicide?

The probe agency will also have the challenge of investigating whether the college administration had any role in the incident. The question also has to be answered as to why the matter was reported to the police very late at 10 am after the incident.

How will the case be investigated?

The CBI is in Kolkata with its team of doctors and forensic experts. Along with this, a team of Special Crime Unit (SC 1) has also arrived from Delhi. The team will conduct a detailed investigation of the crime scene such as finger prints and foot prints. The team will also collect any evidence related to the dead girl, hair of the accused or any other object from the spot itself.

The investigation team will also map the location. He will also recreate the crime scene from the spot with the accused. We will also find out who was present there at that time from the mobile dump data. The CBI team will go over the evidence collected so far in the investigation from the Kolkata Police. The agency may again record the statement of the accused. Also, the location of his phone, call records and messages will be checked thoroughly.

Friends and family will also be questioned

During the investigation, the team will record the statements of people from the medical college, friends of the deceased girl, the first people who reached the spot, the four friends who had dinner with her before the murder, the doctors who conducted the post-mortem. and family members. It will also seize the CCTV footage and send it to a forensic team for investigation.

The CBI team will go through the post-mortem report of the girl and all the documents related to the investigation. The CBI will also investigate at the technical level and conduct several scientific tests.

25-member special team of CBI

Earlier, a special team of 25 members of CBI under the leadership of Additional Director has started investigating the case. The agency has taken the main accused into custody. A source associated with the CBI said the investigating agency has already registered an FIR in connection with the doctor’s rape and murder under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) in Delhi.

Officials attached to the CBI said that personnel from the agency’s special crime unit and local unit have been included in the team. CBI team reached Kolkata from Delhi today and started immediate action. All the documents related to the case were also seized from the Kolkata Police.
