West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with Durga Puja Committees in Kolkata on Tuesday. Many religious and social organizations including puja committees participated in this meeting. Mamata Banerjee has announced to give 85 thousand grant to Puja Committees. Along with this, 75 percent discount has been given in electricity duty. Exemption in other fees including fire license was also announced.
Let us tell you that last year a grant of 70 thousand rupees was given to the worship committees. Mamata Banerjee said that a grant of 1 lakh rupees will be given next year. He said that a puja carnival would be organized on October 15.
CM Mamata Banerjee said that pujas are being organized in districts as well as in Kolkata. As many as 42 thousand pujas have been organized across the state. He said that there is police presence in big puja pandals, but voluntary organizations should also come forward. He also called upon women and students to participate in the programme.

He said that Durga Puja is used as a place of pilgrimage. It is also performed during Eid and Chhath Puja. A holiday is also given on this occasion.
Mamata warned against theme worship
Mamata Banerjee said she is against VIP cards. It should not happen that VIPs get more facilities. Common people should not be deprived. Common people are disturbed by seeing the movement of VIPs in such a crowd.
He said if you create a theme, share it with the police. Because in such a situation there may be a stampede. Air service may be disrupted due to lighting. This needs attention.
The puja emphasized coordination between the police and the organisers
Mamata Banerjee said that coordination regarding worship is necessary. Police Control Room, State Control, District Control Room and Puja Control Room should work in coordination with each other. He said that the helpline should work during the puja. This will have to be arranged.
He said that women have no problem and seniors and disabled people should not face any problem. This needs special attention. Arrange for separate entry and exit to avoid overcrowding.
