The new-looked SEC gets well and truly underway in Week 5, with 12 teams in action and 10 teams playing conference games, including three opening SEC play this year.
And with that new look is the debut of the mandatory SEC injury reports for conference-only games.
Along with the Big Ten Conference, every SEC team will provide an initial injury update three days before game day, and then provide daily updates leading into the final report, which comes out 90 minutes before kickoff.

SEC injury report: How it works
This is the first year the SEC is mandating its football programs — along with men’s and women’s basketball and baseball — issue injury reports for each conference game. An SEC team does not need to issue an injury report for non-SEC games.
For football, teams are required to make their first injury report available three days before their game and then provide updates daily up to the final report, which comes out 90 minutes before kickoff. There are four designations — out, doubtful, questionable and probable — for teams to use in the initial injury report. According to the SEC’s news release last month, fines range from $25,000 on the first offense to $100,000 for a third and more if a team fails to list an availability.
Here are the four designations to be used in the first injury report of the week:
-
Out: Will not play, 0% chance to play
-
Doubtful: Unlikely to play, 25% chance to play
-
Questionable: Uncertain to play, 50% chance to play
-
Probable: Probable to play, 75% chance to play
