How did you get into films?
After Mayuri passed out from 12th standard, her mother Sujata came to Mumbai to shoot for the film. During this time she lived with her mother. One day when Mayuri went to the sets with her mother, director Saeed Akhtar Mirza saw Mayuri and offered her to be the heroine in his film ‘Naseem’. Mayuri was studying at IIT Kanpur at the time, which is why she refused the role. However, when he thought back, he immediately said yes and left IIT for the film. Mayuri played the lead role in ‘Naseem’, which also starred her mother. The film also won the National Award in the Screenplay and Best Director categories. After doing the film ‘Naseem’, Mayuri got many big offers. During this period, he worked with many big actors including Ajay Devgan, Mahesh Babu and Sanjay Dutt.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt was very happy with Mayuri’s performance in the film ‘Naseem’, after which he cast Mayuri in his film ‘Papa Kehte Hain’. Mayuri Jugal was seen with Hansraj in this film. Why did you quit acting?
Mayuri made a distinct identity for herself in the film industry, due to which she got many film offers and signed many of them, but then suddenly she disappeared from the industry. Mayuri Kango married NRI businessman Aditya Dhillon in 2003 after moving away from acting. After marriage, she shifted to America, where she considered studying business again.
