Shinde Govt’s big decision, renamed Pune airport
The Eknath Shinde government of Maharashtra has taken a big decision. The Shinde government has approved the proposal to change the name of Pune Airport. Now it has been decided to change the name of Pune’s Lohgaon Airport to Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj International Airport, Pune. A big cabinet meeting was held today before the Election Commission’s visit to Maharashtra in which this important decision was taken. The Shinde government has given a big gift to the Warkari community.
Efforts have been going on for the past several days to change the name of the airport. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today approved a proposal to rename the airport after Tukaram Maharaj, a Marathi saint of the 17th century Warkari sect, in a cabinet meeting. For this, during a foundation stone ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis also announced to bring the proposal and send it for approval, after which the decision was taken today.
Lohegaon Airport was the old name
Pune Airport is also known as Lohegaon Airport. While the Varkari community is in a happy mood after this decision, political experts are calling this decision a master stroke by the Shinde government and a great move to tap the Varkari vote bank ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra. PM Modi has also participated in the Varkari community program, so it is understandable that this politics of naming will be very important in terms of vote bank in the coming time. The General Administration Department of the State Government took this decision which was sent to the Cabinet and today the Cabinet approved it.
