Signed commits USC can still flip in Class of 2025

It is common for some recruits to change their minds during official visits to college programs, especially early in recruiting cycles. Young people tend to be indecisive, and recency bias is real. USC recently flipped Georgia commit Jadon Perlotte, a four-star linebacker, but on the other side lost Isaiah Gibson and Justus Terry to Georgia.

Commitments are only verbal in college football recruiting. As these top prospects continue to be recruited by other programs, we looked at which top recuits USC could still land even though they are locked in elsewhere as of today.

1. RJ Collins

Kansas City three-star defensive back RJ Collins was offered by USC last week but is currently a Kansas State commit.

The speedy cornerback, who ran the fastest 100 and 200 meter races in the state of Missouri, would be a great addition to the Trojans’ secondary.

“After talking with my family, I plan on making a decision before summer’s end,” he told GoPowercat’s Ryan Wallace.

2. Douglas Utu

2025 four-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu (Las Vegas) committed to the Tennessee Volunteers back in June, but could be on the Trojans’ radar by the time signing day arrives in December.

Utu checks in as the No. 53 prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Alabama, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee, USC and Washington were all hoping for his services at the beginning of the summer, but the Trojans could see a flip in the future.

3. Chauncey Gooden

USC and Colorado have been going blow for blow as the two former Pac-12 schools go at it for Julian Lewis. Why not add Gooden to the mix? We know Coach Prime may not be at Colorado next year after his sons Shiloh and Shedeur go to the NFL along with Travis Hunter.

4. Jared Martin

TCU commit and four-star edge recruit Jared Martin held offers from USC, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State and Penn State.

The Southern California native totaled 50 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, 13 quarterback hurries, four pass breakups, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.

Look for Martin to wonder if the grass is greener on the other side and upgrade from TCU to USC on the defensive line.

5. LaRue Zamorano

Three-star cornerback LaRue Zamorano of Corona, Calif commited to Michigan State over Washington and Cal last month.

Zamorano is ranked as the No. 42 cornerback per the On3 Industry Rankings. for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 487 overall prospect in the class.

The new defensive staff at USC has made a Zamorano a priority and was able to get him on campus earlier in the week. It was his second visit this year and it sounds like the Trojans could be the team to beat right now.
