The Central Government has now given the green light to the proposed Ram Janki Path starting from Shri Ram Janmabhoomi to Janakpur, the site of Mata Sita’s apparition. NHAI has already started the construction of this 448 km long road. Currently DPR is being prepared by dividing this 4 lane road into four phases. The design of the road will be prepared in this DPR and the estimated cost will be calculated based on it. The DPR is likely to be prepared and sent to the central government in this financial year.

Along with sanctioning the DPR, it is also planned to award tenders in this financial year. According to NHAI’s plan, 436 km of the proposed road will be in India. The route will pass through various districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and then after crossing the Nepal border it will travel 12 km to the place where Mata Sita had darshan. In Uttar Pradesh, the route will start from Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and will enter Bihar after reaching Mehrauna Bridge via Azamgarh-Mau and Deoria.

Ram Janaki Path will enter Nepal from Bhitta Mor

From here it will enter the border of Nepal via Siwan, Chapra, Mashrakh via Shivhar and via Sitamarhi via Bhitta Mor. According to NHAI officials, a 50-km long four-lane road will be constructed from Siwan to Mashrakh in the first phase. NHAI has started the tender process for building this road. Similarly, there will be another package of 48 km from Mashrakh to Chakia and third package of 103 km from Chakia to Bhittamode. DPRs have already been prepared for these three packages.

Religious tourism will grow rapidly

According to NHAI officials, the work in the fourth package will be in Uttar Pradesh’s share. The construction of this road will not only boost trade and commercial activities from Uttar Pradesh to Bihar and Nepal, but also increase religious tourism due to direct connectivity between Ayodhya and Janakpur. According to NHAI’s XEN Prateek Kumar, the DPR work for this road is in final stages. Soon the work will be started after it is prepared and approved. He said that soil testing will start after approval of DPR.
