Swati Maliwal Assault Case: No Relief For Vibhav Kumar, SC Gives Time To ED To File Reply

Swati Maliwal Case: Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP and former chairperson of Delhi Women’s Commission Swati Maliwal’s assault case was heard in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The Supreme Court has given time to the Enforcement Directorate to file its reply on the bail plea of ​​Vibhav Kumar, who was arrested on charges of assaulting Maliwal.

Vibhav Kumar, the PA of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, had petitioned the Supreme Court regarding his bail. Hearing this, the court has given the ED till August 21 to file its reply. Earlier on August 2, the Supreme Court had rejected Vibhav Kumar’s bail plea on the grounds that he could tamper with evidence.

The next hearing of the case is on August 27

Meanwhile, Vibhav Kumar did not get any relief from the Supreme Court on Wednesday either. The court has given the ED till August 21 to file its reply on Vibhav Kumar’s bail plea. After which Vibhav Kumar’s lawyers will file their reply by August 24 after the ED’s reply. After all this, the Supreme Court will next hear the case on August 27.

The court rejected the bail application

The Supreme Court had earlier rejected Vibhav Kumar’s bail plea during the hearing of the case on August 2. According to PTI, the court had denied bail to Vibhav Kumar in the Swati Maliwal attack case and said there was no basis to grant relief to the accused. The accused is very impressive. The court further said that it cannot be ruled out that the petitioner may influence the witnesses in the case and tamper with the evidence if he is granted bail.

Vibhav was arrested on May 18

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s former private secretary Vibhav Kumar is accused of assaulting Swati Maliwal on May 13. At the same time, he was arrested on May 18 and an FIR was registered on May 25 under sections of the Indian Penal Code. Vibhav challenged his arrest in the Supreme Court after his bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court.
