Syracuse football coach Fran Brown used his first postgame press conference of the 2024 season to thank Ohio State coach Ryan Day for quarterback Kyle McCord’s services.
In the 2024 opener against Ohio, Syracuse won 38-22. The Orange scored all of their 38 points from the second quarter on after trailing 6-0 in the first 15 minutes.

“Kyle’s a good football player,” Brown said. “You’ve seen it right there. I should send Ryan Day a bottle of champagne for allowing us to get him. It’s really cool.”
McCord had 354 passing yards, four touchdowns and an interception while completing 27 of his 39 pass attempts.
His passing yards, pass completions, pass attempts and passing touchdowns were each career highs.
McCord also added five rushing attempts for -1 yard.
McCord transferred to Syracuse after going 11-1 as a starting quarterback at Ohio State. He had had 3,170 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
In three seasons with Ohio State, McCord had 3,776 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, completing 66.5% of his 406 pass attempts.
Syracuse will look for its next win at noon Saturday against Georgia Tech on ACC Network.
