Police said the body of a 22-year-old girl was found at her maternal uncle’s house on Rakshabandhan in Hardoi. The body of a girl child was found in the pit of an under-construction house located in Kashiram Colony of Dehat Kotwali area. Superintendent of Police Neeraj Jadaun said that on August 22, the father of the missing daughter filed a complaint at the Kotwali city police station that his daughter was lured away by her maternal uncle Manikant Dwivedi.

Police registered a case and started investigation. When uncle Manikant Dwivedi was detained and interrogated by the police, he revealed that he had been having an affair with his niece for 2 years. According to the accused uncle, the girl wanted to get married elsewhere. For this reason, he strangled the girl to death.
