In Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital case, the agitating junior doctors, after meeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday, said that the work stoppage and protest will continue until their demands are met. He said that removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal is our moral victory. The doctors said they will continue their strike and protest until all the promises made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding their demands are fulfilled.
Agitating doctors hailed Mamata Banerjee’s announcement to remove Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and called it a moral victory. On the chief minister’s appeal to end the agitation, the doctors said that we are also waiting for the Supreme Court to hear the RG car rape-murder case today.

One of the agitating doctors said that we will stop our work and continue our protest at Swasthya Bhawan (headquarters of the health department) until the promises made by the Chief Minister are fulfilled. We are also waiting for the Supreme Court hearing today regarding the RG Kar rape-murder case.
The junior doctors said they will hold a meeting today after the hearing and take a decision on their ‘work strike’ and protest. The doctor was addressing the media at ‘Swasthya Bhavan’ after returning from Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence. A meeting was held between the Chief Minister and a delegation of doctors at Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday night acceded to the demands of the agitating junior doctors and announced that Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, Director of Health Services and Director of Medical Education would be removed from their posts. After the meeting with the doctors, Mamata Banerjee said that the talks have been successful and almost 99 percent of the demands of the doctors have been accepted.
