The semi-high speed regional connectivity train i.e. Delhi-Meerut RRTS, which completes the journey from Delhi to Meerut in just a few minutes, is almost ready to become fully operational. The journey has already started on one of its sections and will soon start from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi as well. After its commissioning, Indian Railways’ Hazrat Nizamuddin station will be directly connected to Meerut. This train system will also connect with the Delhi Metro. In such a situation, passengers will be able to travel comfortably between Delhi Metro and Meerut RRTS (Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System). They will not have to buy separate tickets for both.

Delhi-Meerut RRTS has been named as ‘NaMo Bharat Train’. Delhi Metro has signed a ticket-sharing agreement with NCRTC, which is developing Meerut RRTS. Under this, integrated QR ticketing will work between both the train systems and common people will not have to buy tickets separately.

This is how the ticketing system will work

Namo Bharat train tickets can be booked through the RRTS Connect app. Namo Bharat train passengers can also book Delhi Metro tickets through this app. Similarly, passengers booking Delhi Metro tickets through the DMRC mobile app can book Namo Bharat train tickets.

The integration of DMRC and NCRTC ticketing systems will enable generation of a unique Delhi Metro QR code on the NCRTC mobile app and similarly, a NaMo Bharat QR code on the DMRC mobile app. By scanning this QR code at the ticket gate, people will be able to travel between the two conveniently.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and Delhi Metro Corporation (DMRC) today signed an MoU to integrate their ticketing systems. This is in line with the government’s ‘One India, One Ticket’ initiative. This will enable passengers to book tickets using QR codes for Namo Bharat and Delhi Metro train services on a single app.

Part of PM Gatishakti’s Master Plan

This initiative is in line with the PM’s Gati Shakti National Master Plan. There is a plan to ensure easy and seamless travel between different modes of transport. RRTS stations are being connected with existing railway stations, metro stations and bus stations. This creates an extensive transport network.

Currently, 42 km of the RRTS corridor and 393 km of the DMRC network are connected. This provides passengers with an integrated and efficient travel and ticketing experience across the NCR. This integration encourages the use of public transport, which is important to increase ridership and provide stability to these large-scale projects.
