Indeed, today’s Patna i.e. Patliputra is counted among the ancient cities of the world. Now one more unique person has been added to this Patna. Patna city has 29 such trees, estimated to be more than 100 years old. The oldest tree in the capital is the Maulsari tree of Bhikham Das Thakurbari located in Bari Path, Bakarganj, which is more than 200 years old.
Recently a survey was conducted by the Patna Municipal Corporation for the city’s heritage trees. This has come up with interesting data. There are 426 such trees in the city, whose age is more than 50 years. While there are 16 such trees whose age is between 80 years and 100 years.
The maulsari tree is the oldest

There are old trees in different parts
The banyan tree under the capital’s busiest Chirayatand bridge is 110 years old. Apart from this, the pakad tree in Patna High Court premises is 100 years old. A survey by the Patna Municipal Corporation revealed that Patna city has 21 trees that are 100 years old or more. The survey revealed that there are 29 such trees in the city, whose age is more than 100 years. The special thing is that there are 426 such trees, whose age is estimated to be more than 50 years. Bankipur area has maximum 120 trees.
Long life of banyan trees
Out of 29 trees over hundred years old, 15 are banyan trees. While the age of Banyan tree planted in the premises near Gate No. 13 of Bihar Assembly has been estimated to be 95 years. The gular tree planted near the government guest house is 90 years old. The tamarind tree planted near CM House is 85 years old. Apart from this, the age of the banyan tree near the Nepali Guard Outhouse near the Raj Bhavan and the age of the banyan tree near the lake on Alkapuri Main Road has been estimated to be 85 years.
Maulsari is a medicinal tree
Maulsari is considered a medicinal tree. It is used in Ayurveda. Its leaves are glossy and the structure of the tree is very beautiful. It is found in almost every part of the country. The height of this tree is thirty to forty feet. Its flowers are small and star-shaped. The flowers are yellow and white in color and have a pleasant fragrance. The most important thing is that this tree is not affected by autumn. It is also known as Bakul, Maulsiri, Mukur, Sinhkesar. Its fruits are edible and also used in traditional medicine.
Toothache
Bhagwati Sharan Mishra, priest of Bhikham Das Thakur Bari says – The teeth of this tree are especially considered a panacea for teeth. The branches of the tree are fragile and fibrous. This brushing cures all dental related disorders. Boiling its leaves in water and gargling them gives great relief in toothache. Its flowers are considered very sacred. The flowers bloom at night and fall automatically in the morning.
