Bihar Food Minister Lacy Singh met Union Minister Prahlad Joshi in New Delhi on Thursday. They met at the office of the Food and Public Distribution Department. In the meeting, it was agreed to increase the paddy procurement target set by the Government of India for the upcoming Kharif marketing season, 2024-25, from 34 lakh metric tonnes to 45 lakh metric tonnes, on the state’s request. On the request of Lacy Singh, the Union Minister also directed the departmental officials to pay the amount due for various reasons related to the works done by the state under decentralized procurement.
Under the supply chain management being done by the state of Bihar by the Union Minister and Government of India officials, in the last 2-3 years, Aadhaar based e-POS authentication, end-to-end computerization and efficient management of new technology transparency for being at the forefront of foodgrain distribution in the country. has been implemented.
The Union Minister also appreciated the excellent work done by the State of Bihar across the country for ration card related e-KYC, cancellation of duplicate data and Aadhaar seeding following Government of India instructions. In this meeting, Prahlad Joshi assured that necessary help will be given to Bihar. Lacy Singh also invited the Union Minister to come to Bihar.
