UP: Congress Seeks 4 Seats In 10-seat Bypoll, SP Not Ready

CM Yogi, Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav

The contest between Bharatiya Janata Party and India Alliance in Uttar Pradesh by-election is going to be very interesting. Not only this, with the BJP claiming 10 out of 10 seats, all eyes are on how easy India can be for the alliance. After the success in the Lok Sabha, the litmus test of Bharat Gathbandhan will take place. The Congress has already started putting pressure on the SP to give more seats, while after a major setback in the Lok Sabha, everything now depends on the Yogi government’s bypolls. If there is success, all speculation will cease, but if there is failure, more voices of protest will be raised.

According to sources, Congress wants four seats from SP. It includes Mazwan, Phulpur, Mirapur and Kundarki seats. However, SP is not ready to give so many seats to Congress. It is being said that the road seems easy for the SP in the Bharat alliance, especially in its seats. By-election will be held in Karhal seat of Mainpuri. The Samajwadi Party is in a very strong position here. The seat has fallen vacant due to the resignation of Akhilesh Yadav.

How difficult is it to penetrate the impenetrable fortress of SP?

Ziaur Rehman Burke was MLA from Kundarki seat in Moradabad, now he is MP, but it will not be easy for BJP to wrest this Muslim majority seat from SP. At the same time, Kanpur’s Sisamau seat has been held by the SP for decades, a Muslim-dominated seat that has been an impregnable stronghold of the SP.

SP national general secretary Lalji Verma became an MP from Ambedkar Nagar, he has been a 5-time MLA from Katehri seat here, so this seat is considered a stronghold of SP. Similarly, all eyes will be on the Milkipur assembly seat which falls under the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat, which has become the subject of this debate. From here SP is considering giving ticket to Awadhesh Prasad’s son.

How easy is victory for BJP?

Here the battle for the NDA in its Phulpur, Kher, Ghaziabad and Majwan seats will be comparatively easy, but the battle in the Mirapur seat of Muzaffarnagar is considered tough. Overall, both camps are strong in their respective seats. The contest is expected to be interesting, but seat-sharing before that certainly seems to be the first challenge for the SP and the Congress.
