The tradition of bribery is old in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi Mandi, where open gambling takes place from Rs 5 to Rs 50 thousand. In such a situation, the anti-corruption team from Lucknow has arrested the market assistant red handed for taking bribe. The accused used to take a bribe of ₹ 30,000 from the assistant trader of the mandi in exchange for getting a unified licence. The businessman had earlier complained about this to the anti-corruption team. A team of corrupt employees who sell water and take bribe have been arrested red-handed. The anti-corruption team has registered a case against the accused market assistant for taking bribe.

A case of corruption has come to light in Hardoi’s Special Category Galla Mandi. Arunendra Kumar Verma, appointed as Market Assistant in the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, has been caught by the anti-corruption team accepting a bribe of ₹ 30,000. This action has been taken by the anti-corruption team after the complaint of Amit Gupta, the owner of Ma Vaishno firm. Amit Gupta said there was a clerical error in his licence, for which Market Assistant Arunendra Kumar Verma demanded ₹50,000 to correct the unified licence. The deal was finalized for ₹30,000, he had earlier complained to Lucknow’s anti-corruption squad, which has been prosecuted today.

Arrest of Market Assistant

Inspector Nurul Huda Khan of the anti-corruption team from Lucknow said that after receiving the complaint, the team laid a trap and caught market assistant Arvind Verma taking bribe from his office. Market assistant Arunendra Kumar Verma started counting the money given by the trader. The team then arrested him red-handed. The accused market assistant has been taken to the police station of Hardoi village and legal action has been taken.

Every day cases come to light

Bribery is an old game in Hardoi Galla and vegetable market. Several types of illegal charges have been levied by the market administration on incoming and outgoing charges. Complaints have been made several times by traders. Market staff call it a convenience fee. From gate pass to entry and exit, money is also charged. Many rules made for farmers and traders are meaningless here.
