Tension prevailed in north Maharashtra’s Jalgaon and Nashik cities on Friday when two groups clashed and pelted stones during a bandh called by a Hindu organization to protest attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. At the same time, more than six policemen were injured while controlling the situation.
According to reports, the peaceful protest turned violent when some shopkeepers clashed with youths protesting the closure of shops in Bhadrakali area. Meanwhile, stones were pelted from both sides. Vehicles were also vandalized. Meanwhile, the police used lathi charge and tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

The controversial statement caused tension in several cities
Before Nashik, the Muslim community staged large protests in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Ahmednagar. Here, the Muslim community accused Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj of Panchal village in Nashik for making objectionable statements. During this time, protesters gathered at different places in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Aurangabad and demanded that Mahant Ramgiri Maharaj be jailed under the National Security Act (NSA).
Ex-MP accused of conspiracy
In this matter, former MP Imtiaz Jalil said that this whole conspiracy is being formed keeping in mind the elections. So that anger arises among Muslims and people come to the streets. He said that we will not tolerate anyone using abusive language against Prophet Mohammad. Action should be taken on this matter at the earliest.
Police busy identifying miscreants
Nashik Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik said the situation is tense, but under control. Six tear gas shells and one rubber bullet were fired to disperse the crowd. Due to which six policemen were injured. Police personnel including State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel have been deployed to maintain peace in the area. Police are busy identifying miscreants and nabbing them.
