Uproar Over Non-giving Of Muharram Charity, 2 Youths Attack Shopkeeper… Servant Not Spared


The incident was caught on CCTV

On 17th July, the whole country including Jharkhand will celebrate Muharram and remember the martyrs, preparations are going on all over the country for such an occasion. Meanwhile, following a dispute over forced Muharram donation from a shop near Sankat Mochan Mahaveer Mandir on Main Road in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi, youths from a particular community abused and assaulted a shopkeeper of Das Music on Main Road. The incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed at the spot. A video of which is fast becoming viral on social media.

After the beating incident, aggrieved shopkeeper Rinku Das filed a complaint at the Lower Bazar police station and said that on July 15, two unknown persons reached his shop and started asking for donations for Muharram. When he refused to give the donation, both the men started swearing. When his son, who was present in the shop, refused to swear, the accused youth attacked his son and his employee with a rod. Both were injured in the attack. After the complaint, the police have arrested both the accused.

Politics heated up

Politics has also started over the incident of assault by the accused youth over Muharram donation. Regarding the entire incident, Bharatiya Janata Party state president and former Jharkhand chief minister Babulal Marandi posted on his “X” and wrote that shopkeepers are being attacked by goons in the name of collecting donations for Moharram in Ranchi. Such incidents can spoil the peace and harmony of the entire city.

CRPF took out flag march

Shortly after the incident, a flag march was organized on the main road of Ranchi in Albert Ekka Chowk, Main Road, Daily Market, Urdu Library, Anjuman Plaza, Ikra, under the leadership of City SP, Ranchi, in view of the festival of Moharram. A procession was taken out through the mosque, Karbala Chowk and Church Road from a security point of view in which the women battalion of the CRPF was also involved.
