When The Lives Of 20-25 People Were In Danger During The Shooting Of ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’! Shahid Kapoor’s Father’s Explanation


‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, which is counted among the classic films, was released in the year 1983. Bollywood actor Pankaj Kapoor has shared a case related to this film. He said that the film was being shot at a construction site. One scene of the film was shot on an open lift. Pankaj said that there was a lot of risk in his shooting. Referring to the accident, he said there was a time during the shooting when the lives of around 25 people were in danger. He said that while going down from the 26th floor, his lift got stuck midway.

Talking about ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ director Kundan Shah, Pankaj Kapoor said that he was surprised when Kundan showed him the location of the film. He said there was an open lift. The sides of the lift were only 1 to 2 feet high. He said that there was a wire above the lift, through which the lift was moving.

Pankaj Kapoor told Filmcopath in an interview that when the lift got stuck, Renu Saluja, Kundan and himself were also in the lift. Later, the trio was dragged to the 25th floor. Pankaj said, “I almost died. After getting down I said that it is not possible to carry a camera in such a small lift. He said in conversation, “I saw a big crane with a lift, it looked safer than a lift. So what you can see at the end is a very large lift, lifted by a crane. In this crane were two light men, a camera man, 5 actors and Kundan himself. The elevator was going up and moving. This was so that a 360 degree view could be shown. We were scared.”

Pankaj further said that after the completion of this shot, there was another scene in which the team had to shoot some scenes on the 25th floor. At that time the building owner’s son told him that the lift would go to the 26th floor. After this he can come down the stairs to the 25th floor to shoot the scene. According to Pankaj, at that time no one realized that the lift was overloaded. Pankaj said that he kept saying that there are more people in the lift, but no one listened to him at that time. She said that once the elevator started going up, she got stuck on the 7th or 8th floor. After which all the people present in the lift were scared.

When the lift got stuck in the middle

Concluding his statement, Pankaj said that the lift was neither going up nor down. In such situation crane lift was used. The elevator was moved closer to the building. According to Pankaj, those people don’t need to come out and panic constantly, but no one listens to him. Pankaj said, “It was our luck that there was no mishap and everyone was safe. Everyone jumped out. The elevator did not even come close to the building, there was a gap between the elevator platform and the building.

Later he realized that the wire on which the lift was resting was breaking due to the weight of so many people. He said that everyone was lucky to survive, otherwise 20 to 25 people would have fallen directly to the ground from the 7th or 8th floor.
