Amid protests, minister Giriraj Singh leaves his car and goes on a bike.

A strange situation unfolded in Begusarai when Begusarai MP and Union Minister Giriraj Singh faced protests and had to leave his car and go on a bike. In fact, the Union Minister is on a one-day visit to Begusarai on Sunday and was going to attend a workers’ convention. Meanwhile, health workers reinstated on contract surrounded the minister’s car and started a protest.

Let us tell you that dozens of workers of ANM were protesting under the banner of Bihar Medical Health Workers Association in Begusarai. At the same time Union Minister Giriraj Singh reached near Dakbangla Road to attend a program.

The protesters tried to surround Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s vehicle near Canteen Chowk on Dakbangla Road, but when Giriraj Singh’s convoy did not stop, ANM workers reached the girls’ school and when Giriraj Singh came out, the workers surrounded his car.

But the Union Minister did not accept his memorandum and left the car and went on a bike. Sonam Priya, a protesting health worker, said that she had brought a demand letter and wanted to give the demand letter to the minister, but the minister did not want to listen to her. When we tried to talk to him, he left his car and went on his bike.

He asked if those people were not his people. Are they not our representatives? When elections come, they come to ask for votes and talk about serving, but today when they came with their demands, they left on a bike.

Work boycott from 22nd July

It may be noted that since last July 22, dozens of ANMs are on work boycott under the banner of Bihar Medical Health Workers Union. Chief among their 12-point demands is equal pay for equal work, but the workers alleged that the district administration and the government are not heeding their demands.

Health workers say that some health workers are paid up to Rs 1 lakh for a single job, but they are paid only ten-fifteen thousand rupees. They are demanding justice and equal pay.
