Why Does Manu Bhakar Want To Add Doctor To His Name?


Manu Bhakar created history by winning two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics. His coach Jaspal Rana was also highly praised for his success. However, now after the success, Manu has also told his next goal. “I want to do PhD because my mother wants me to be named ‘Doctor’,” said Manu. That’s why Manu Bhakar is studying hard along with shooting. He disclosed this at an honor function organized by the Delhi State Rifle Association. He told the program that he has done post graduation in public administration and wants to pursue PhD in future.

Wants to do PhD for mother’s happiness

DSRA organized a dinner in honor of Paralympic shooting coach Subhash Rana with the success of Manu Bhakar and Jaspal Rana. Meanwhile, the players were also honored. In this program, Manu Bhakar said that he is on a break from shooting, after a break of a few months he will return to the shooting range again. After that he will start preparing for the next Olympics.

Manu said, ‘My mother wants my name to be prefixed with Doctor.’ He also thanked DSRA on this occasion. Manu said that his journey to Olympic success would not have been possible without coach Jaspal Rana. Jaspal Rana’s constant encouragement and support from his family gave him inspiration and strength. Manu also thanked his colleagues during this journey.

Coach Jaspal Rana was also present in this ceremony. He praised Manu Bhakar a lot. He said, ‘Manu’s success has been appreciated by the entire country, a matter of happiness and pride for me as a coach. Behind this success is hard work. Delhi State Rifle Association President Jaspal Rana spoke about continuous efforts to bring forward the young talent of the country to the best of our ability. He demanded to give sufficient opportunity and all possible support for this.

Delhi State Rifle Association Vice President Jaspal Singh Marwah hosted a dinner in honor of both shooting greats Jaspal Rana and Manu Bhakar at Vasant Kunj area, which was attended by all the officials associated with the DSRA Association and many big faces of the capital. The occasion saw Indian Para Shooting Team coach Subhash Rana also felicitated by DSRA for the outstanding performance of his shooters in the Paralympics, along with senior advocate Gaurav Sarin.

Many big faces of shooting were seen at the ceremony

Many shooting dignitaries from the capital arrived on the occasion, including Asian and Commonwealth Games medalist shooter Vikram Bhatnagar, Union Education Ministry Coast Officer Manmohan Kaur and Indian Junior Shooting Team coach Rajeev Sharma. Former Chairman of DSRA H.S. Bedi’s former secretary Mohan Lal Sehgal was also present in the event. Among the incumbents, secretary and senior advocate Akshay Anand, joint secretary Ishwinderjit Singh and governing board members Shakun Bhugra, journalist Farid Ali, Ajit Singh Runhotra and Achal Sehgal were present. Former senior Sports Authority of India official Manmeet Singh, shooter Nishant Mangala, Harshneet Singh Marwah, Bhrigu Dutt, Shaurya Sarin, armorer R.K. Sharma, coach Falak Sher Alam, Vineet Chopra and Aisha Falak also participated.
