UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
The Yogi government has decided to implement the Uttar Pradesh Digital Media Policy-2024. The policy was approved in the Cabinet meeting held on August 27. The process and guidelines on how digital media operators/digital media influencers will get advertising recognition were released on August 28. Govt to pay handle operators/digital media influencers Rs. 8 lakhs will be paid to those who communicate public welfare related policies and programs to the general public.
Under the new social media policy, the Uttar Pradesh government is for digital media handles, pages, channels, account holders, operators, digital media influencers and content writers or their associated agencies/firms operating from within and outside the state. People who provide information through digital medium about government programs and schemes and benefits of welfare schemes to people will be linked with Publicity Information and Public Relations Department of Uttar Pradesh Government. Then they will be listed in the department and advertised as per rules.
- Your channel/platform should exist for two years and its documentation should also be updated.
- You will be considered eligible for advertisement only if your channel/platform has been in existence for two years and the documents have also been updated and no criminal case has been registered against you. Affidavit has to be given.
- You will be considered eligible for advertising only if you have to provide six months of digital media analytics report to register.
- You must have all your shooting equipment to create a video, post or content etc.
- Holders, operators, digital media influencers, content authors or their respective agencies or firms will be registered.
- Communicate positive actions of government to people, government will transfer money to your account.
The Yogi government will give 8 lakh rupees per month
The state government pays influencers running various social media platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram and YouTube based on their subscribers or followers Rs. Will pay up to 8 lakhs. For this it has been divided into four different categories. Category wise maximum payment limit for X, Facebook, Instagram respectively is Rs. 5 lakhs, Rs. 4 lakhs, Rs. 3 lakhs and Rs. 2 lakh per month has been fixed. While category-wise maximum payment limits for videos, shorts and podcasts on YouTube have been fixed at Rs 8 lakh, Rs 7 lakh, Rs 6 lakh and Rs 4 lakh per month respectively. The government has set various categories and qualifications for all platforms.

- Five lakh subscribers/followers
- Eight videos or sixteen posts

- Two lakh subscribers/followers
- Six videos or twelve posts

- Fifteen minimum videos or 30 posts

- Twelve videos or 30 posts

The Uttar Pradesh government termed the provision of life imprisonment for indecent comments under the Digital Media Policy-2024 as misleading information. According to the statement, no such proposal has been sanctioned by the UP government in its digital media policy. Videos/contents posted should not be objectionable and if so will be dealt with as per applicable law already.
