A woman constable committed suicide by hanging herself in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district. A relative was pressuring a lady constable for marriage. Due to which he took the step of suicide. As soon as the incident was reported, the police reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Also, the police are busy investigating the matter.
This incident of suicide took place in a residence located in Thariav Police Station premises. One of her relatives had been pressuring the lady constable for marriage for a long time, but the lady constable did not want to marry him. The relationship of the female constable was decided somewhere else. Both were to be married in the month of November. The woman constable took a suicidal step, causing commotion in the police station.
Brother’s daughter-in-law was pressuring her for marriage
The woman constable has been identified as Priyanka Saroj, a resident of Patura, Jaunpur. Priyanka was a 2018 batch soldier. Priyanka was stationed at Fatehpur’s Tharianav Police Station for the past five years. Priyanka lived on the third floor of a residential building built in the police station premises. Even on Sunday night he went to his room after completing his duty. It is alleged that Priyanka’s brother’s brother-in-law Chandan was pressuring her for marriage.

On Sunday night too, the brother-in-law tried to pressure Priyanka for marriage and called her several times between 12 and 1 am. When Priyanka talked about committing suicide due to pressure for marriage, Chandan called Inspector Vinod stationed at the police station and reported it. After getting the information, Inspector Vinod reached Priyanka’s room. Vinod looked inside and was stunned. Constable Priyanka’s body was hanging.
A case was registered against the accused
Sankatha Prasad, father of the deceased constable, said that his son’s brother-in-law was pressuring his daughter for marriage, due to which she was very upset. Due to which he committed suicide. Priyanka’s marriage was already fixed, but Chandan kept harassing her. Police have registered a case against Chandan and his family.
