You Will Get A Discount On A New Car, But Gadkari Put This Condition.

Before that, a condition of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will have to be fulfilled. Yes, major passenger and commercial vehicle companies will offer 1.5 to 3 per cent discount on the purchase of new vehicles instead of converting old vehicles into scrap ahead of the festivals.

The vehicle manufacturers agreed on this in a meeting with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, an official statement said on Tuesday. The statement said that this initiative is an important step towards accelerating the circular economy in the country and promoting the use of cleaner, safer and more efficient vehicles.

Gadkari held a meeting with SIAM

Gadkari chaired a meeting with a delegation of SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), the apex body of automobile companies, at Bharat Mandapam on Tuesday. During the talks, taking positive note of the advice of the Road Transport and Highways Minister and recognising the importance of vehicle modernisation and a resource-efficient economy, many commercial and passenger vehicle manufacturers submitted their certificates. It has been agreed to grant exemption for a limited period in return for (scrapping certificate).

It says that commercial vehicle manufacturers are willing to grant an exemption for two years and passenger vehicle manufacturers are willing to grant an exemption for one year. The statement says that this exemption will encourage the conversion of old vehicles into scrap metal. This will ensure that safer, cleaner and more efficient vehicles are on the roads.

These companies announced discounts.

The statement further said that Mercedes-Benz India has offered a flat discount of Rs 25,000, which will be added to all existing discounts. According to the statement, passenger vehicle manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai Motor India, Kia Motors, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Honda Cars, JSW MG Motor, Renault India, Nissan India and Skoda Volkswagen India are involved in vehicle scrapping and will offer a discount on the purchase of a new vehicle instead of a spare one.

A discount of 1.5 per cent of the ex-showroom price or Rs 20,000 (whichever is less) will be given if the car owner purchases a new car in exchange for a passenger vehicle scrapped in the last six months. Commercial vehicle manufacturers such as Tata Motors, Volvo Eicher, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra and Force Motors will offer a discount equivalent to three per cent of the ex-showroom price for commercial load vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes.
