Employment Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora

Punjab Minister for Employment Skill Development and Training Aman Arora said that a meeting convened before the allocation of three Multi Skill Development Centers (MSDC) run by the department received a lot of encouragement from the training partners. This confirms that the change of power in the state has increased the confidence of the people in the system.

It may be noted that this is the first time that 30 bidders participated in the pre-bid meeting, whereas during previous governments only 3-4 bidders participated in such meetings.

Aman Arora said that five multi-skill development centers of Punjab Skill Development Mission are functioning in Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur. These centers have fallen vacant in Jalandhar, Bathinda and Ludhiana and these centers are to be allotted to training agencies shortlisted through the RFP process.

He said that 4500 seats (1500 seats in each MSDC) will be available in these three MSDCs for students to pursue vocational courses. Congratulating officials of Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) for providing a conducive environment to training partners and industrial associations, Aman Arora assured all possible support from the state government to ensure optimal utilization of MSDCs to all partners.

He said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is making all possible efforts to improve the skills of the youth of the state and open new avenues of employment for them. Aman Arora said the Punjab Skill Development Mission had issued an RFP for these three MSDCs through the state’s e-procurement portal last month.

The Cabinet Minister said that the courses in MSDCs should be conducted according to industrial requirements. He also asked officials to focus on bridging the gap between industrial requirements and skilled manpower.

He said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann would soon launch its skill training scheme to increase the employability of the youth and equip students of colleges, ITIs and polytechnics with life and soft skills.
